how to get out of IRS debt?

How to get out of debt
abgardenflower@att.net asked:

I need help with IRS. I have over 10000 debt with IRS, it all started with an audit they conducted several years ago for the years of 2004/2005. However, having worked only 15,000 a year during those 2 years, IRS asked for 6,500 back. I should have done something, however, left it alone without paying them. Now they have a hold on my checking account. Anywhere I can go that will help me with this? Should I deal with IRS personally, or hire a lawyer.

Go to a tax attorney out of the yellow pages.
They can help you file old tax returns and reduce your amount.
They reduce it – by filing your old tax returns and claiming deductions and credits that you failed to claim.

You don’t state what the problem behind the problem is. Without that, I have to presume that you actually owe what IRS says you do and would have to substantiate any changes to what is on the books. If you are unable to pay in full now, that is an entirely different issue and you would have to document your financial situation. Hiring an attorney is not a good idea because that would cost you almost as much as IRS says you owe.

you can certainly work with IRS yourself, you can set up an installment plan, or possibly work with them to declare your debt uncollectible
and yes, there are professionals who can help you, but it will cost about as much as you owe so you really aren’t much ahead

Hi,
I used ”National Relief” to settle my debt and avoid bankruptcy. They managed to reduce my debt up to 58% and improve my credit score. It’s legitimate . I came across this company on NBC News Special Edition. Check it out here:
