A bankruptcy gets rid of all of your debts except to the govt for taxes, the lawyer who handled the bankruptcy for you, and a few miscellaneous others. The correct legal accounting for the creditor is to write off the debt. After bankruptcy, they cannot go after you any more.
Or course, it would be OK for the debtor to pay them back later on if he is able to do so.
Best of success.

Write off Debt is a financial term related to Accounting. They will write it off in Chapter 13 BK.
You may be referring to Statute of Limitations and this depends on the type of debt and the state you live in.

They can keep it on their books for ever. They can’t can not do anything to attempt to collect on it.
So….if you are asking because you want to do business with them again, and they refused because your BK is still on their books, there is nothing you can do about it. Do your business elsewhere.
