Letter from “The Department of Debt Relief”?
sma asked:
I received a letter in the mail from “The Department of Debt Relief.” It looked like an official government letter so I checked the official government website USA.gov and I could not find it. That says to me that it is a scam. I also found an article on it By Herb Weisbaum at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18155301/ called “Debt relief deals ‘preying on consumer’s trust’ Many of these ‘too-good-to-be-true’ offers are run by con artists.” If you received a letter like this I suggest that you check it out before you contact them. Also, there are legitimate fanatical counselors and some of them are non-profit. I pray God will guide and protect you.

Since there is no “Department of Debt Relief” I would hope no one is stupid enough to fall for it.
