Mom doesn’t have to pay her bankruptcy debt but has to pay my deceased fathers?
Bride to be asked:
My father passed away 6 months ago. He was only 48, my mother is 52. She cannot collect on his SS. And they had filed bankruptcy two years ago. First the bankruptcy lawyers said they would lower her debt payments, since my father is deceased. Now they are saying that they can wipe her debt away yet she will have to pay off my fathers’ debt. Can anyone elaborate as to why they would clear her debt but still make her pay for his?

She doesn’t need to pay his debts, his estate has to pay them. There is a legal difference there.
