Served to attend mediation–credit card debt?

Debt Mediation
YO Mama asked:

Do the debt collectors normally allow you to call the office and make a payment plan? I’m just now getting finances in order. Will I have to pay the lawyer fees for the other party? How much are those? Will my father be allowed to be my representation? This will occur on my fourth day of school and I don’t want to miss school. He’d easily be able to settle this for me. I can use all the help I can get.

If they see you are trying they should

Catspaw Says:

Call them up and see if they’ll do it informally on the phone. Chances are they will.

I would call the credit card agency and set up a payment plan. Usually if you show a willingness to work on the debt, they will work with you. I have also heard that they may reduce the interest rate to work with clients.

Hi, yes, you can call a debt collector and set up a payment plan.As for a lawyer it may not be necessary to have one. The debt collector can set up everything with the one you owe,as long as they haven’t had any court appointed action against you.
