what would be some ways to save money for fire belly newts?

How can I make a way for them to be able to get out of the water that would be cheaper than buying some bogwood for around $11 or buying a big castle that is around $15 to 20. Some rocks or large pebbles built up the side of the tank could create a platform out of water im guessing, maybe a plant pot upside down? I dont know.. think household objects
