Sen. Barack Obama, perhaps giving America a preview of priorities he would pursue if elected president, is rejoicing over the Senate committee passage of a plan that could end up costing taxpayers billions of dollars in an attempt to reduce poverty in other nations.

The bill, called the Global Poverty Act, is the type of legislation, “We can – and must – make … a priority,” said Obama, a co-sponsor.

It would demand that the president develop “and implement” a policy to “cut extreme global poverty in half by 2015 through aid, trade, debt relief” and other programs

Its the Global Poverty Act….last I heard the US was part of the “globe”. The reality is, that terrorists come from impoverished parts of the globe. You rarely hear of French, English or some other European terrorists. Improving the economies of impoverished nations is in the best interest of the US.

grow up you naive little idiot.

do you have any idea how much taxpayers money is already given out in aid?

Don’t try to make it an ‘Obama is so bad for the country’ issue. Every single president does the same.

He and his wife have no pride or sympathies for America. They are socialist to the core. He is for one world Islamic controlled nations. Most of his supporters are in such denial of facts about he and his wife that its becoming scary, they might actually give him the democratic nomination.
If you give what Obama says the common sense test outside of his rhetoric of “Change”, it fails the “Proud to be American” test.

They all — including Bush — do this. In fact, I suspect that a minute difference between Rs & Ds is that Ds want welfare at home, Rs want to export welfare. They both are altruists.

Global Poverty Act. Sounds good right? After all, who likes poverty? In reality, it is a nice name for a not so nice piece of legislation, which was rushed through the senate Foreign Relations Committee, with only a voice vote, no records kept for yea/nay votes. If you take the time to research this act, it will also require us to sign the Kyoto treaty, allow the UN to tax us, abolish, for all intents and purposes, the 2nd amendment, and will require US taxpayers to pay approximately 800 billion dollars (and probably more) over the next 13 years, in addition to the foreign aid that we already give. Contact your elected Representatives and let them know that you do not want this to happen.

There are ways to fight poverty, but global socialism is not the answer.

Aunt Acid Says:

Obama wants to help AFRICA. That’s where all this money would go!

Africa is the “cradle of civilization” so they say. They have had LONGER to invent things, build things, etc. WHY are THEY not ahead of the world because of their HEAD START? We have to wonder WHY Africa failed….NOT throw money at it the way we do welfare here in this country. You know how well THAT works.

granddad1070@sbcglobal.net Says:

Read the damned bill.
It gives away more than our money,it gives away our rights and forces a UN income tax down our throats.

Botsakis G Says:

Didn’t you know that GW Bush is right now on a 6-nation trip in Africa?. He is already giving out $ millions of American tax dollars to fight malaria, AIDS, etc..
