Why was there so much yawning during the RNC this week?

RNC
mr_cj_jr asked:

Seriously, I watched BOTH conventions.
But, for some reason during the camera shots of the crowds, I saw SEVERAL people yawning during the prime-time speaker’s speeches.

Any reason behind why people seemed to be extremely tired at the RNC?

Thoughts?

bored with the rhetoric, maybe?

ARLENE B Says:

There was a lot of yawning at the Dem. convention too.

Have you ever been to a political convention? Well I have, and believe me, you get VERY LITTLE SLEEP. When you’re not on the convention floor, you’re partying.

Nic Says:

Because of damn Gustav.

Tough Guy Says:

They don’t serve Kool-aid at the RNC.

findmind29 Says:

Because we all know old people dont usually stay up that late.

jim j Says:

because they’re old & they were up past their bed time. I bet they tivoed murder she wrote, golden girls & matlock. They’re so cute when they’re that age!

Ashleigh Says:

Sarah Palin and her Canadian accent bored me, and John McCain almost put me to sleep. I didn’t watch but about 30 minutes of each. I didn’t catch the DNC.

Maybe because the Republicans work for a living and the Democrats don’t? (yes, like you, I am stereotyping)

Proskyneo Says:

Cause it was a bore.

It didn’t speak about anything that was important, like the economy.

It didn’t offer anything new.

It wasn’t delivered well….nobody the least bit exciting spoke

There was NO optimism whatsoever

that’s so funny because I noticed it to. I had a really weird thought that it was almost happening so much that I thought it may have been protestors secretly just trying to make a statement in a non-violent way by going to the convention and doing the old yawning protest on national television maneuver. My guess is everyone is tired from late nights of Olympic watching, then DNC watching and now RNC watching…

yonder Says:

I guess it’s because we are all so relaxed and confident we have made the right choices. Kinda like you give a baby what he wants or needs and he goes to sleep. We don’t have to worry about all of those people on the floor that have swooned and swayed and fell all over the place from all of that inspiration. We can control ourselves and hold our head up and not need help picking winners and regretting it later. Oh yeah, we just eat regular lettuce, and don’t have to worry about going out and having to find our arugula. It’s just a peaceful happy life, so we might yawn once in awhile. Try it, it’s better than squirming because Biden is still at home looking at himself in the mirror.
